| Definition | A velocity is a vector quantity. "x" indicates a vector component along the grid x-axis, positive with increasing x. Bolus velocity in an ocean model means the velocity due to a scheme representing eddy-induced effects which are not resolved on the grid scale of the model. bolus_sea_water_x_velocity is used in some parameterisations of lateral diffusion in the ocean. | ||
