Definition | The measure of a body of water's capability to pass electrical current. It is directly related to the concentration of dissolved ions in the water, such as chlorides, sulfides and carbonate compounds. The more ions that are present, the higher the conductivity of the water. It can be used to calculate practical salinity. | ||
