Definition | "y" indicates a vector component along the grid y-axis, when this is not true latitude, positive with increasing y. "Downward" indicates a vector component which is positive when directed downward (negative upward). The surface called "surface" means the lower boundary of the atmosphere. A downward y stress is a downward flux of momentum towards the positive direction of the model's y-axis. | |
