| Definition | A low cost ocean climate data sensor, capable of measuring conductivity, temperature, depth, light, acceleration, and position (GPS). The 2 degreesC Wavelet has several use cases, the primary use case involves attaching the sensor to volunteer SCUBA divers to collect oceanographic data during dives. Alternatively, the Wavelet can be used to produce vertical profiles of the water column via an extendable tether from the surface, short term (<24 hour) deployments on the sea bed or water column via weighted tethers, or attached to moving vessels to perform wide area in situ sampling. Measurement ranges are as follows: temperature 0 - 40degC, depth 0 - 300 m, conductivity 30 - 38 ppt, light 0 - 1800 lx, and acceleration 0 - 8g. Accuracies are +/- 0.15degC (temperature), +/- 1.5 mb (pressure). Conductivity resolution is 0.01 ppt with a drift of 0.5 ppt/200 hours, acceleration resolution is 0.01 g, and light resolution is 0.1 lx with an RTC of 0.4 s/day (drift). The sensor is powered by a 200 - 1200 mAh 1S LiPo battery, charged via solar or USB. | ||
