Definition | A precision radiometer used to measure total energy from the sun. This can be either global shortwave irradiance or total irradiance in the plane of array (TPA). It can also be used to measure reflected or albedo irradiance, as well as diffuse shortwave irradiance. It is based on the design of the Eppley PSP pyranometer (https://vocab.nerc.ac.uk/collection/L22/current/TOOL0666/) but exhibits a faster response time, reduced thermal offset and improved cosine response. The SPP has a spectral range from 295-2800 nm, a sensitivity of 8 uV / Wm-2 and an impedance of approximately 700 ohms. It has an operating temperature from -50 to +80 degC. Hourly average measurement uncertainty is approximately 2 percent, daily average measurement uncertainty is approximately 1 percent. | ||
