Definition | The Gilson dredge consists of a sort of plough and a net behind it. This device is pulled by a research vessel and is mostly used for sampling rough substrates, e.g. sampling of oysters and shells. The Gilson dredge is also suitable for collecting archeological artefacts but not for sampling fish. |
