Definition | The Mini-Hamon Grab was introduced by CEFAS and is used for obtaining samples in coarse sediment, as well as for sampling benthic infauna. The standard Hamon Grab comprises of a stainless steel box shaped sampling scoop mounted in a rectangular (but sometimes triangular) frame. It is a mini version of the standard Hamon Grab, with a typical sampling area of 0.1 m2 and a penetration depth up to 20 cm. It often has a longer than standard tooth bar fitted compared with the standard Hamon Grab. |
