Definition | The Volatile Aerosol Concentration and Composition instrument (VACC) indicates the size-resolved chemical composition of an aerosol sample. Air is drawn in through a quartz tube heating element, programmed to cycle over temperatures between 40 and 900 degrees C. Particles are sized by a hybrid optical particle counter. Temperature dependent changes in size spectra are characteristic of the chemical composition of the aerosol particles. | |
