Definition | This broad community includes sediment biotopes where burrowing anemones are the dominant fauna. In Arctic mid bathyal coarse sediment, the burrowing anemones have been tentatively identified as Halcampids. They are found associated gravel/ pebble coarse sediment which is interspersed with rock. This community can occur in association with ophuroid dominated communities, and crinoid dominated communities may attach to any rock present. Due to difficulties in taxonomic identification using soley video footage, no species level assemblages could be described for this type of burrowing anemone field. Species are likely to differ from those occuring in Atlantic waters. | |
