| Definition | A multi-detector, multi-channel instrument designed for the analysis of dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC), spectrophotometric pH, CO2, and C13/C12 ratios in aquatic and soil samples. It features multi-sample batch processing of up to 10 samples per run, which can include certified reference materials (CRMs). MODICA can be connected to UIC's CM5017 or CM5018 coulometers, and CRD-based instruments such as Picarro's isotopic analyser. MODICA also features integrated pure CO2 gas calibration hardware, giving users additional tools to evaluate instrument performance by measuring CO2 from two calibrated CO2 loops. MODICA software is available via a built-in Windows 10 computer, enabling the user to configure a run sequence based on sample type. The software then automatically loads appropriate predefined settings appropriate to the sample type, applying relevant calculations. At each step of the analysis, readings of salinity, temperature and pressure are also recorded by the software using onboard probes and a pressure transducer. Additional WiFi, USB and ethernet connections are provided. | ||
