Definition | A piezometer-instrumented stake developed by Ifremer for the in-situ measurement and monitoring of deep-sea sediment pore pressure at different depths, for various geotechnical applications. Manufactured and sold by NKE Instrumentation. Available as the standard piezometer or V2 version. It can be deployed in 3 modes: long-term mode for up to two years; short-term yoyo mode where it remains connected to the vessel via cable, for 8 - 24 hour deployments; autonomous yoyo mode for short-term measurements down to 1500 m depth, 1 - 10 days deployment. Consists of several connecting tubes and an outer sleeve. It contains a differential pressure sensor and temperature sensor. An electronic board is integrated in the sleeve, which digitises the data from the differential pressure sensor and temperature probe (MPT card). The sleeve provides the mechanical link between the tubes. A digital link bus interconnects the digitising boards; this link is controlled by a data storage module (MDS) located in the retrievable assembly. The Data logging card (MDS module) allows the measurement acquisition rate to be set, and the values to be recorded on a memory card. This module is located in a waterproof titanium container. Depth-rated up to 6000 m. Pressure measurement range +/- 200 kPa, pressure measurement accuracy +/- 0.5 kPa. Temperature measurement accuracy +/- 0.05 degC, temperature measurement range 0 - 50 degC. | ||
