PS | Cruise principal scientist | The senior manager of the scientific party on a research cruise, which may include management responsibility for scientific instrumentation technicians. The role is usually held by a single individual, but sometimes the responsibility can be shared. | 2011-12-12 |
TC | Cruise technical contact | The person to whom post-cruise queries concerning shipboard or deployed scientific instrumentation should be addressed. This may be a cruise technician, but could also be a shore-based contact from their organisation. | 2011-12-12 |
TS | Cruise technician | A participant on the cruise who is responsible for preparation, operation and/or maintenance of shipboard or deployed scientific instrumentation, but has no IPR interest in the data returned by that instrumentation. | 2011-12-12 |
DM | Data manager | An individual within an organisation with a responsibility for the management, curation and distribution of data | 2011-12-12 |
DC | Dataset supply contact | A person who acts as an intermediary between BODC and a project or organisation for the supply of a dataset. This person would normally be regarded as the first point of contact for any enquiries concerning access rights to the dataset. | 2011-12-12 |
PA | Project administrator | Project secretariat members providing administrative support to the project without management responsibility. | 2011-12-12 |
CI | Project co-investigator | The persons responsible for the planning, direction and management of a sub-component of a project. Termed a work package leader in EU projects. | 2011-12-12 |
