Definition | A seabed-deployed sediment sampling device developed by Ifremer. It is used to collect detailed, undisturbed sediment cores for scientific research, to study sedimentary deposits, benthic communities, and other environmental factors in the marine environment. It is deployed using a winch and an A frame/crane. It can recover up to 80cm on a 1 m tube, and can be used in clay to sandy-shell sediments. It has a minimum operating depth of 2m, and can be used in mild sea conditions with waves under 4m. | ||
