Definition | The CAMECA NanoSIMS 50L is a secondary ion mass spectrometer (SIMS) for isotopic and trace element analysis at high spatial (sub-micron) resolution. It is based on a coaxial optical design of the ion beam and secondary ion extraction, and on a magnetic sector mass analyser with multicollection. The NanoSIMS 50L has applications in materials science (hydrogen and deuterium analysis), cell biology (aging and biology), geosciences, and environmental microbiology. The NanoSIMS is unique in enabling simultaneously small spot of reactive species, high mass resolving power with near full transmission, and DC beam for high throughput and lowest background and noise. Spatial resolution is down to 50 nanometres, sensitivity is ppm in element imaging. Isotope ratio reproducibility is a few tenths per mille. | ||
