| Definition | A sensor packaged in a small stainless steel box with a single connector for power and data that outputs fully processed wave data. Sampling is in bursts from 1-34 minutes with a sampling interval from 5-1440 minutes. It may be located anywhere on a floating platform and comprises three accelerometers and three rate sensors that measure displacement along the three orthogonal axes of the platform. Direction is measured using a gimballed fluxgate compass. Resolution is 0.01m for height, 0.1 second for period and one degree for direction. Accuracy is better than 2% for height and period and 3 degrees for direction.
