Definition | A solid-state, circuit board-type magnetic compass. Applications include, ROVs/AUVs, remote terrestrial antenna direction indicators, side-scan sonar, survey equipment, robotics systems, vehicle detection and weather stations. It is used to measure heading, tilt and magnetic flux density. It is based on magnetic sensing of the earth's field. It comprises Magneto-Inductive (MI) magnetic sensors and a MEMS accelerometer to provide 3-axis magnetic field sensing, 2-axis tilt sensing and compass heading. Heading accuracy: 0.8 deg RMS (over tilt range). Pitch and roll accuracy: 0.2 deg RMS. Magnetic field resolution: +/- 0.05 uT. | |
