The series consists of the EM 3002 base model with a single sonar head, plus the EM 3002D which uses dual sonar heads. Both systems come with an Operator Workstation, running operational 'SIS' software in either Linux or Windows. SIS software can be used for 3D graphics, real-time data cleaning and electronic map background. The instruments can also be set up to use other operational software such as QINCy, HYPACK and others. The EM 3002 base model has an angular swatch coverage of 130 degrees, whereas the dual-sonar heads of the EM 3002D enable a greater angular swath coverage of 200 degrees. The instruments are rated for water depths of 1 to 200 metres in cold oceanic conditions, and use frequencies in the 300 kHz band.
